I enjoy plays, but I love movies. Still I have a basic complaint. It seems to me that Hollywood would be well served with more playwrights. Even with well plotted, successful stories, I often cringe at the lack of character depth and the lack of any interesting dialogue. So, here's a challenge to playwrights. If you catch one of the recent films ... and if you left the theatre mumbling that you could write a better script in less than a week ... then how about showing us how you would improve the movie you saw? What would you add to the character who seemed flat? How would you change the dialogue? Show us what you can do! Who knows, maybe some producer from Hollywood will scan this web site ... and say, wow, that would have been better! I'll be waiting ... Bill

The SCR production of Ah, Wilderness was well done (as usual) but the play itself was not up to par. I suppose the play has a certain historical interest as O'Neill's comedy, but in this day and time it plays as a situation comedy.
