Not mundane? I recall a piece by Robert Benchley translating the librettos of opera. One in particular describes a woman moving down the street wailing "My son cannot vote! My son cannot vote!"
May have been sarcastic, but within every joke abides a confession and an indictment.
Leave Previn alone .... sticky shirts and all. Can't be much worse than Rocky Horror Picture Show.
